Integral Base Wad design (IBW)

Description:

The headed "PB" style hull is very similar to the "Gold Medal" style base. This is the largest capacity Federal 12ga 3" hull. The primer extends above bottom of the hulls base. The hull base is the same color as the tube. The design of this hull results in thin walls and the large interior capacity.

Look for load data for "Federal PB" hull. Do not interchange the Federal plastic disk base hull with the PB hull.

In Curmudgeon's original data, he always made a distinction between "FB" (fiber base) and "PB" plastic base. However, Federal eventually got rid of the old fiber base wad design and replaced it with an updated plastic base wad. That newer 3-piece design is NOT the same as the IBW hull.

*Primer: Always confirm the primer in new Federal hulls. The 209A (202) is standard, but we have also received prior shipments of the 239 primer, which is a very hot primer.

	Best 3 inch hull	10/14/2015
Ive loaded the other 3 hulls and had ejection problems on my Mossberg 930 so I decided to try these. Outstanding hulls. Using the Advantages manual I loaded up several recipes. I used the Super Crown Crimp Starter: Large Bore 6-point to start the crimp. On an old Mec 600 these cases crimped well. I checked each case with my spare 930 barrel and all the shells dropped in and fell out smoothly. On the range all cases ejected smoothly with no malfunctions from my Mossberg 930 and Mossberg 835. Upon arriving home I immediately reloaded the hulls for the second time and all reloaded perfectly. The shot shells again dropped in and fell out of the chamber. My loads are mainly for self defensive purposes close quarters combat and they must function flawlessly. This is the only 3 inch hull that has done so. This is the only hull I will buy from now on.

The hulls work well for large magnum goose shells and crimp nice and tight with plenty of room to seat crimp deeply
