The Best hull for Reloading Steel shot period! | 1/2/2018 |
| I have been reloading Steel shot now for about 4 years. After having loaded lead shot since I could sit in the seat and pull the press handle I was a bit cautious from all the negativity that surrounded steel shot reloading. Then I found these hulls. I now load Rio once fired hulls almost exclusively for my hunting loads. I get great crimps and perfect crowns almost every time. I have found myself taking more birds and farther distances than with factory ammo. When Rio hulls are used with your PT1265, PT1260, and PT1253 wads these these make for the best steel shot reloads that are available for the reloader. Thanks so much for your fervent research and load data for these hulls/wads. They will always be on my shelf when I need them. | ||

| I live in Spain and I am one of the last mohicans who still reload shotgun cartridges in this country. Rio cases are very tough but not sexy. Their walls are thicker that the American hulls and the base is low, as the hulls are designed for Maxam powders, which are single base and therefore need more weight/volume. Not a great deal as you can play with the lenght of collapsable wads. Regarding the primer, I have no problems using European or American primers. All I do is depriming before resizing the hull.
